What To Expect
What To Expect
It’s important to us that you to feel at home and relaxed when you come into the centre, so we have designated a special area on our website to make sure that you know exactly what to expect when coming in to the centre for the first time.
It is likely that your first visit with us will be for what we call the 'New Patient Appointment'. For this initial appointment we will ask you to complete one of our New Patient Forms. This is so the Chiropractor is fully aware of your medical history details to give you the best possible care before your appointment with the Chiropractor begins. It can take between 5-10 minutes to complete, so normally if it is your first time to the Centre then we will ask you to come in 10 minutes early before your appointment to allow you the time you need to fill this in.
However we understand that life can be busy so for your convenience & ease we have included the link where you can download one of our New Patient Form’s below. If you decide to do this, then please just let us know and bring the completed form along with you to your first appointment.
If you have any questions about this form then please give us a call on 01233 632000.
New Patient Form
Arrival At The Centre
On arriving at the centre, you will be personally welcomed by one of our team members who will look after you and offer you a drink. Once you are settled, we will offer you our help to complete a New Patient Form, if not already completed. The purpose of this form is to make sure the Chiropractor is fully aware of your health concerns & able to give you the best possible care.
The Chiropractor will go through your health concerns and ask detailed questions to get to the cause of your problems. People often comment on the thorough nature of the consultation. Rest assured that the Chiropractor will listen to everything you have to say. We find all too commonly that many people haven't been given the time to enable a resolution to their pain. This consultation also often provides the necessary information for the Chiropractor to determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.
After your consultation the Chiropractor will perform a thorough examination of your posture, bones, joints, muscles and nerves. Again, patients are always impressed by the thorough nature of the examination. A detailed examination enables the correct treatment. We believe this is the reason why we see so many positive results through chiropractic care. It all begins in finding out what is causing the problem.
The consultation & examination can last up to 45 minutes.
Report of Findings
The Chiropractor will study the case and you will be invited to return as soon as possible where you will receive the Chiropractor's Report of Findings and generally it is during this visit that you will receive your first treatment. The Report of Findings is where the Chiropractor will explain to you the results from your examination which may be spread across a few sessions. Before treatment starts we will tell you in clear, simple language, what is wrong, why it is there and what can be done about it. This Report will last approximately between 20-30 minutes. At this verbal report the Chiropractor will explain everything in detail, show & explain your x-rays, if taken, and give you the answers to the 4 major questions that are normally on a patients mind:
1. What’s wrong?
2. Can it be fixed?
3. How long will it take?
4. How much will it cost?
You are also able to ask any questions you may have and then you can decide whether or not you would like to go ahead with the recommended treatment - there is no obligation. It is important for the chiropractors to explain everything to you in great detail so you leave feeling informed and confident. As a result of this, the sessions will consist of chiropractic explanations, helpful examples, & open communication which enables you the opportunity to discuss any questions you have alongside the treatment. Please read on for what to expect within the chiropractic treatments.
Treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific manual adjustments, done by hand, to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Most often, this requires a short, highly skilled thrust to a joint that can result in an audible release, and may bring relief of symptoms as well as an increased feeling of well-being. The audible release is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released. There are many other forms of treatment that Chiropractors also successfully use alongside the adjustments. We treat problems with your joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they may have on your nervous system. Working on all the joints of your body, making gentle, specific adjustments to improve the efficiency of your nervous system and release your body’s natural healing ability. Chiropractic does not involve the use of any drugs or surgery. In order to help the body get used to chiropractic care, the first few adjustments are normally shorter. Regular adjustments normally last between 10-15 minutes and your first treatment is normally performed on your second visit.
