Back Pain

Almost everyone gets back pain at some time, but staying active, with the help of Chiropractic treatment, may well be a helpful solution. Back pain can be one of the most debilitating of problems leading to stress, anxiety and more back pain. Many people can find themselves in this seemingly never-ending cycle. This can be especially problematic for the self-employed as more and more working days are lost due to back pain

But it's not all bad news . . . at the Ashford Back & Wellness Centre we have seen thousands of patients over our years in practice and a very high percentage of those patients have found themselves back on the road to recovery in no time at all - even when there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel.

The important point to remember is that the cause must be found and corrected.

Chiropractic Care Is Second To None

Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to provide greater improvement of symptoms in those suffering from persistent back complaints compared with physical therapy. Patients receiving spinal manipulation also have greater improvements of physical functioning in fewer visits (BMJ 1992:601-605).

Chiropractors look at problems with your joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they have on your nervous system. Working on all the joints of your body, concentrating particularly on the spine, we use our hands to make gentle, specific adjustments to improve the efficiency of your nervous system and release your body’s natural healing ability. Chiropractic does not involve the use of any drugs or surgery.

Treat The Cause of Back Pain, Not The Symptoms

Chiropractic, unlike painkilling drugs, is able to look at the cause of pain, not just the pain itself. A full examination (including MRI/X-Rays if necessary) are carried out, and questions are asked about your pain, medical history and lifestyle, to try and discover the cause of your back pain and offer a diagnosis of your complaint.

If Chiropractic can help with your conditions, your treatment will begin, often with gentle, specific adjustments (realignment of the joints) done by hand, to free stiff joints and remove spinal nerve irritation. This effective drug-free treatment is generally painless, although you may feel some short-term discomfort if your back is very sore.

Please note: Chiropractors do not claim to 'treat' back pain. In fact Chiropractors do not claim to 'treat' anything. Pain is the bodys' way of expressing an underlying health issue. Chiropractors focus on the cause. If deemed suitable, Chiropractic care will be given to help create spinal alignment. Many people respond positively as the function of the spine and nervous system is improved - this is in essence a 'side effect' of Chiropractic care.

We do not actively treat all causes of back pain. However, we are well placed to manage them. The management could be in any of the following forms: diagnosis, advice, treatment (see list below), monitoring of progress or timely and appropriate medical referral.

Is Chiropractic Treatment Possible After Surgery?

Probably. Your Chiropractor has the training and experience to treat each patient as an individual. You will receive appropriate treatment and adjustments for your specific condition, while areas not suitable for treatment will be carefully avoided. Many Chiropractors are able to offer post-surgical exercise, advice and rehabilitation.

To help find that cause we offer:

·  A private consultation with the Chiropractor

·  A thorough examination including Neurological, Orthopaedic & Muscle tests

·  MRI/X-Rays if necessary

·  An explanation of what we found & how we can help

After which you should know more about your body and the problems you are experiencing than you ever have before.  Whether you go ahead with treatment as always is entirely your decision.
